Hydrogesic: Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information

Main ingredients in Hydrogesic are Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen. Hydrogesic is used for the relief of mild to moderately severe pain. Hydrogesic combines a narcotic-analgesic (Hydrocodone Bitartrate) with a non-narcotic analgesic (Acetaminophen) which can also be used for reducing fever. Hydrogesic is usually given when Acetaminophen alone is not effective. However, Hydrogesic is not effective against Arthritis or other pain caused by inflammation.

Hydrogesic Side Effects



Side effect of Hydrogesic range from lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and shortness of breath to allergic reactions, anxiety, depression, mania, drowsiness, mood changes, and restlessness.


Hydrogesic Caution


Hydrogesic is habit forming.Use it exactly as prescribed by your physician. If you were addicted to narcotics or painkillers in the past, let your doctor know about it.



No one who had an allergic reaction to Hydrocodone or Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) or have adrenal, kidney, liver, or prostate disorder, should take this drug.

Hydrogesic can make you drowsy. Do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery until you know how Hydrogesic affects you.

If you ever had an head injury, stomach problems, or lung disease, discuss with your doctor before taking Hydrogesic.

If you are pregnant or nursing, let your doctor know about it before taking Hydrogesic.

Hydrogesic Interactions



Hydrocodone in Hydrogesic slows the nerve cell response. Alcohol will definitely enhance this effect.

Check with your physician before combining Hydrogesic with the anti-depressant, anti anxiety drugs. Cold medicines that has Antihistamines, tranquilizers, MAO inhibitors, other narcotic analgesics as well as herbal anti-depressant, St. John�s wort.

Hydrogesic and Pregnancy



High doses of Acetaminophen in Hydrogesic could be problematic during pregnancy.

Hydrogesic may pass into breast milk. Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed or wait at least 4-6 hours after their last dose.

Hydrogesic Doses



ADULTS

The usual dose is 1 or 2 tablets, taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 8 tablets per day.
CHILDREN
Hydrogesic is not recommended for children.

Hydrogesic Overdose



Symptoms of Hydrogesic overdose include bluish skin, blood disorders, cold and clammy skin, extreme sleepiness that can leads to coma, general bodily discomfort, heart problems, heavy perspiration, kidney problems, limp muscles, liver failure, low blood pressure, nausea, slow heartbeat, and vomiting. In case of Hydrogesic overdose, seek emergency medical attention right away.
