ClindaMax: Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information

Main ingredient in ClindaMax is Clindamycin. ClindaMax is an antibiotic given to treat bacterial infections, vaginal infections and severe acne. ClindaMax inhibits the production of protein that anaerobic bacteria need for growth and multiplying. Anaerobic bacteria do not need oxygen to reproduce and are found in abscesses, wounds, tooth infection and infections of the female genital tract. ClindaMax may also be used for certain skin infections including acne.

CLINDAMAX SIDE EFFECTS

Common side effects of ClindaMax are diarrhea, colitis, cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Rare side effects of ClindaMax are itching, rash, breathing problems, yellowing of the skin, and joined pain. CLINDAMAX WARNING

ClindaMax can cause a severe and sometimes fatal intestinal disorder known as colitis. Signs of colitis are diarrhea, bloody, pencil-shape stool, and abdominal cramps. Any form of ClindaMax including topical and vaginal cream can cause colitis. For that reason, ClindaMax should only be given in serious conditions that cannot be treated by other antibiotics.

ClindaMax should be given with caution if you have kidney or liver disease.

Avoid using ClindaMax if you are allergic to it or lincomycin.

Avoid sexual intercourse while using the ClindaMax vaginal cream.

CLINDAMAX AND PREGNANCY

ClindaMax does cross the fetus. If you are or planning to be pregnant, discuss with your doctor, its potential risks versus its benefits before using the drug. Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while taking ClindaMax.

CLINDAMAX AND DOSES

Capsules :

Adult :
150-450 mg every 6 hours.
Children :
3.5-11 mg/lb. of body weight/ 3-4 doses a day.

Foam :

Apply enough with fingertips to cover the infected area and massage until foam disappears.

Suppositories :

Insert 1 per day for 3 successive days.

Topical Lotion :

Wash and dry the skin before applying the lotion. Apply enough to form a thin coat twice daily.

Vaginal Cream :

Insert 1 applicator worth at bedtime for 7 days. (Exception: Clindesse requires only 1 at any time during the day).

CLINDAMAX OVERDOSE

ClindaMax overdose symptoms include severe diarrhea and heightened side effect symptoms. In case of ClindaMax overdose, seek medical attention right away.
