Ustekinumab: Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information
Ustekinumab is a solution for injection used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis (a disease causing red, scaly patches on the skin). Ustekinumab is used in patients who failed to respond to or cannot use other systemic treatments for psoriasis.
USTEKINUMAB SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects of Ustekinumab include headache, back pain, allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue,
breathing problems,
changes in vision,
confusion,
fever, chills, seizures,
swollen lymph nodes in the neck, underarm, or groin areas,
weight loss, and
fatigue.
Ustekinumab may cause a rare and sometimes deadly condition called RPLS (reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome). Seek medical attention right away if you develop persistent headache, seizures, sudden vision changes, mental/mood changes (such as confusion).
There is a rare risk of developing cancer due to Ustekinumab. Tell your physician right away if you develop symptoms such as lumps/growths, swollen glands, unexplained weight loss.
Ustekinumab and Pregnancy
Seek medical advice from your physician if you get pregnant or plan to get pregnant while using Ustekinumab.
Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while taking Ustekinumab.
Ustekinumab Interaction
Do not take Ustekinumab with any of the following drugs:
Cyclosporine
Immunosuppressives
Vaccines
Warfarin
Ustekinumab Overdose
In case of Ustekinumab overdose, seek medical attention right away.
