Main Ingredient: Flunisolide
AeroBid is a type of orally inhaled corticosteroids given to treat chronic symptoms of asthma. AeroBid should not be given during an asthma attack as it is used as a preventive drug. AeroBid works by preventing and reducing inflammation in the lungs and bronchial membranes. In order to be effective AeroBid should be used regularly, as directed.
AeroBid should not be used during an asthma attack.
Avoid AeroBid if you are allergic or sensitive to corticosteroids.
Pituitary gland suppression may occur when oral corticosteroid is combined with inhaler corticosteroid.
Inform your physician if you have tuberculosis or osteoporosis.
Corticosteroid inhalers like AeroBid are not recommended for children age under 6.
Common side effects of AeroBid may include dry mouth, throat irritation, and headache.
Rare side effects of AeroBid may include cough, nausea, eczema, hoarseness, phlegm, and fungal infection of the mouth and throat.
Use caution when combining oral corticosteroid with AeroBid. Interaction with other drugs has not yet been reported.
As with any medicine, inform you physician if you are or planning to become pregnant as use of large amount of corticosteroid during pregnancy may retard fetal development.
As a precaution nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while taking AeroBid.
Children 6-15 years:
2 inhalations morning and evening. Do not exceed 4 in a 24-hour period.
Adults and Children 16 and older:
2 inhalations morning and evening. Do not exceed 8 in a 24-hour period.
In case of AeroBid overdose, seek medical help right away.
If you miss a dose of Aerobid, take it as soon as you can. However, if it is just about time for your next dose, skip the one you forgot and go on with your regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
