Main ingredients in Ascomp with Codeine are Aspirin, Butalbital, Codeine, and Caffeine. Ascomp with Codeine combines a sedative barbiturate (butalbital) with aspirin and caffeine. Ascomp with Codeine is a nonnarcotic analgesic (pain killer) and relaxant, prescribed for the relief of migraine and other tension headache symptoms that do not respond to regular over-the-counter (OTC) analgesics.

Butalbital in Ascomp with Codeine may cause mental and physical dependence if taken over long periods of time.

If you are allergic or sensitive to Aspirin, ask your doctor if Fioricet is right for you as it contains acetaminophen (paracetamol) instead of Aspirin.

Use extreme caution if you have asthma, other respiratory problems or liver disease.

Ascomp with Codeine may cause you to become drowsy. Do not drive or operate dangerous machinery until you know how Ascomp with Codeine affects you.

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Ascomp with Codeine as butalbital slows the central nervous system (CNS) and intensifies the effects of alcohol causing overdose symptoms.

Antihistamines such as Benadryl
Antidepressants
Drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors
Major tranquilizers such as Valium
Muscle relaxants
Narcotic pain relievers
Sleep aids

Herbs such as catnip, hops and Kava.

ASCOMP WITH CODEINE AND PREGNANCY



If you are or planning to become pregnant, inform your physician right away.

Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while taking Ascomp with Codeine.



ASCOMP WITH CODEINE DOSES



ADULTS
The usual dose of Ascomp with Codeine is 1 or 2 tablets taken every 4 hours as needed. Not to exceed 6 tablets per day.


CHILDREN
Ascomp with Codeine is not recommended for children under 16.

ASCOMP WITH CODEINE OVERDOSE


Ascomp with Codeine overdose symptoms may include coma, confusion, drowsiness, low blood pressure, shock, slow or troubled breathing, stomach ulcer or bleeding, excess perspiration, feeling of bodily discomfort, nausea, and vomiting. If you suspect Ascomp with Codeine overdose, seek medical attention right away.
