Astelin

Main Ingredients: Azelastine

 

Astelin is one of the new type of antihistamines that causes no or less drowsiness. Astelin works by blocking the release of histamine from the cell at the histamine receptor site and relieving the symptoms of seasonal allergies and hay fever like the itchy, runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. Astelin's effect begins in an hour and lasts up to twelve hours.

ASTELIN CAUTION

Avoid Astelin if you are allergic or sensitive to it.

Those who have kidney disease should be given smaller doses.

ASTELIN SIDE EFFECTS

Common side effects of Astelin may include drowsiness, headache, fatigue, indigestion, and dry mouth.

Rare side effects of Astelin may include nausea, nervousness, cough, stuffy nose, and throat irritation.

ASTELIN INTERACTION

Check with your doctor before combining Astelin with erythromycin or ketoconazole.

Otherwise, Astelin is less likely than other antihistamine to interact with drugs.

ASTELIN AND PREGNANCY

Though generally considered safe, do not take Astelin without the advice of your physician if you are or planning to become pregnant.

Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while taking Astelin as it does pass into breast milk.

ASTELIN DOSES
Nasal Spray

CHILDREN (5-11 years)
1 spray in each nostril twice daily.

ADULTS (12and older)
2 sprays in each nostril twice daily.

 

ASTELIN OVERDOSE

Symptoms of Astelin overdose may include drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, nervousness, and dry mouth.

In case of Astelin overdose, seek medical help right away.
