Azmacort Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information
Azmacort side effects may include dry mouth, throat
irritation, and headache. Rare Azmacort side effects may include
cough, nausea, eczema, hoarseness, phlegm, and fungal infection of the
mouth and throat.

Azmacort is a type of orally inhaled corticosteroids given to treat
chronic symptoms of asthma. Main ingredient in Azmacort is Triamcinolone.
Azmacort should not be given during an asthma
attack as it is used as a preventive drug. Azmacort works by preventing
and reducing inflammation in the lungs and bronchial membranes. In order
to be effective Azmacort should be used regularly, as directed.
AZMACORT WARNING
Azmacort should not be used during an asthma attack.
Avoid Azmacort if you are allergic or sensitive to corticosteroids.
Pituitary gland suppression may occur when oral corticosteroid is
combined with inhaler corticosteroid.
Inform your physician if you have tuberculosis or osteoporosis.
Corticosteroid inhalers like Azmacort are not recommended for children
age under 6.
AZMACORT INTERACTION
Use caution when combining oral corticosteroid with Azmacort.
Interaction with other drugs has not yet been reported.
AZMACORT AND PREGNANCY
As with any medicine, inform you physician if you are or planning to
become pregnant as use of large amount of corticosteroid during pregnancy
may retard fetal development.
As a precaution nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while
taking Azmacort.
AZMACORT DOSES
Children 6-12 years:
1-2 inhalations 3-4 times a day. Do not exceed
12 in a 24-hour period.
Adults and Children 12 and older:
2 inhalations 3-4 times a day. Do
not exceed 16 in a 24-hour period.
AZMACORT OVERDOSE
In case of Azmacort overdose, seek medical help right away.
If you miss a dose of Azmacort, take it as soon as you can. However, if
it is just about time for your next dose, skip the one you forgot and go
on with your regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
