Beclodisk: Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information
Main ingredient in Beclodisk is Beclomethasone.
Beclodisk is a type of orally inhaled corticosteroids given to treat
chronic symptoms of asthma. Beclodisk should not be given during an asthma
attack as it is used as a preventive drug. Beclodisk works by preventing
and reducing inflammation in the lungs and bronchial membranes. In order
to be effective Beclodisk should be used regularly, as directed.
BECLODISK SIDE EFFECTS
Common side effects of Beclodisk may include dry mouth, throat
irritation, and headache. Rare side effects of Beclodisk may include
cough, nausea, eczema, hoarseness, phlegm, and fungal infection of the
mouth and throat.
BECLODISK WARNING
Beclodisk should not be used during an asthma attack.
Avoid Beclodisk if you are allergic or sensitive to
corticosteroids.
Pituitary gland suppression may occur when oral corticosteroid is
combined with inhaler corticosteroid.
Inform your physician if you have tuberculosis or osteoporosis.
Beclodisk is not recommended for children
age under 6.
BECLODISK INTERACTION
Use caution when combining oral corticosteroid with Beclodisk.
Interaction with other drugs has not yet been reported.
BECLODISK AND PREGNANCY
As with any medicine, inform you physician if you are or planning to
become pregnant as use of large amount of Beclodisk during pregnancy
may retard fetal development.
As a precaution nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed while
taking Beclodisk.
BECLODISK DOSES
Children 6-12 years:
1-2 inhalations 3-4 times a day.
Adults and Children 12 and older:
2 inhalations 3-4 times a day or 4
inhalation twice daily. People with severe asthma could take up to 16 in a
24-hour period.
BECLODISK OVERDOSE
In case of Beclodisk overdose, seek medical help right away.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. However, if it is just
about time for your next dose, skip the one you forgot and go on with your
regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
