Brufen is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDS). Brufen is
used for to relieve the pain and inflammation of the rheumatoid arthritis
and osteoarthritis, treatment of menstrual pain, and relief of mild to
moderate pain, migraine and to reduce fever.
Brufen works by blocking
and reducing the level of prostaglandis. Prostaglandins is a chemical
produced in the body in response to injury and certain diseases and
conditions and is responsible for causing inflammation, pain and fever.
Brufen is available over-the-counter and with prescription.
Avoid taking Brufen if you are sensitive or allergic to aspirin, or if you have asthma.
Inform your physician any drug reactions that you have experienced with Brufen in the past.
Drinking alcohol increases the side effects of Brufen especially bleeding.
Do not use more than the dosage prescribed by your physician.

Ulcers or internal bleeding can happen especially when Brufen is used for long time or in large doses.
Check with your physician before combining Brufen with the following:
Aspirin
Blood pressure medications
Beta-blockers such as Atenolol
Blood-thinning drugs
Diuretics
Lithium
Methotrexate
Do not combine Brufen with herbs like Garlic, Ginkgo and Ginseng.
Symptoms of Brufen overdose may include acute depression (crying spell), abdominal pain, short breath, drowsiness, irregular heartbeat, kidney failure, low blood pressure, nausea, seizures, and vomiting.
In case of an Brufen overdose, seek medical attention right away.
If you miss a dose of Brufen, take it as soon as you can. However, if it is just about time for your next dose, skip the one you forgot and go on with your regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
