Orudis: Side Effects, Overdose and Pregnancy Information
Orudis is a Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation. Orudis is generally used for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, menstrual cramps, muscle strains, bursitis, tendonitis, gout, and other pains. Orudis is also used to reduce fever. Orudis is available by over the counter (OTC) as well as by prescription. Orudis reduces the level of harmful chemicals in the body, prostaglandins, which produce inflammation resulting in pain.
Orudis Side Effects
Ulcers or internal bleeding can happen especially when Orudis is used for long time or in large doses. Common side effects of Orudis may include, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, fluid retention and swelling, heartburn, indigestion, nausea, nervousness, rash, and vomiting. Rare side effects of Orudis may include, abdominal bleeding, blood in urine, blurred vision, changes in heartbeat, confusion, depression, dry eyes, hives, inability to sleep, kidney or liver damage, severe allergic reactions, shortness of breath, sleepiness, stomach ulcer, vomiting blood, painful urination.
Stop taking Orudis and contact your doctor right away if you experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea heartburn and or vomiting of blood as this could be a sign of serious drug reactions such as internal bleeding or ulcers.
Orudis Caution
Do not take Orudis if you have history of ulcers, colitis, bleeding disorder, asthma, high blood pressure or other heart conditions, liver or kidney condition.
In addition, you should not take Orudis if you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to aspirin, including asthma attacks caused by aspirin.
Orudis contains sodium. If you are on a low sodium diet, consult with your physician first.
Peptic ulcers and bleeding can occur without warning.
Do not take Orudis for more than 10 days for pain or 3 days for fever.
Consult your doctor before taking Orudis if you are pregnant or nursing. Orudis should be avoided in late pregnancy.
Orudis Doses
Children: Orudis is not recommended for children.
Adults: 150-300mg per day in divided doses.
Orudis interaction
Check with your physician before combining Orudis with the following:
Blood pressure medicines such as ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers
Blood thinners
Combining other NSAID such as ibuprofen (Advil) or Aspirin.
Lithium
Diuretics
Methotrexate
Do not combine Orudis with herbs like Garlic, Ginkgo and Ginseng.
Orudis Overdose
In case of an Orudis overdose, seek medical help right away.
Symptoms of Orudis overdose may include ,depression, abdominal pain, short breath, drowsiness, irregular heartbeat, kidney failure, low blood pressure, nausea, seizures, and vomiting.
