Terbinafine is an anti-fungal medicine comes in tablets, cream and as solution. The Terbinafine tablets are used to treat fungus of the skin, toenail, or fingernail while the cream and the solution are given for other fungal infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, as well as Candida. While most antifungal only stop fungus from growing, Lamasil is rather unique as it builds up in the skin and keeps on killing the fungus even after its use is discontinued.

TERBINAFINE AND PREGNANCY

Treatment with Terbinafine should not begin during pregnancy. Nursing mothers should switch to bottle-feed as Terbinafine tablets do appear in breast milk. Avoid applying Terbinafine cream or solution to the breast.

Terbinafine Overdose

Symptoms of overdose with Terbinafine tablets may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, frequent urination, and headache. If you suspect an overdose with Terbinafine tablets, seek medical help right away.


TERBINAFINE CAUTION



Inform your physician right away, if you observe any changes in your vision while taking the Terbinafine tablets.

Terbinafine tablets are not recommended if you have liver or kidney disease. In rare cases, liver damage has been reported.

Terbinafine tablets may also cause severe skin reactions in some individuals. If you experience worsening of the skin problem, stop using the Terbinafine tablets and inform your physician right away.

Do not use Terbinafine cream or solution near the eye, mouth, nose, or vagina. In the case of an accidental contact, rinse them with running water and seek medical help right away.
Terbinafine is not recommended for children.


TERBINAFINE INTERACTIONS



Check with your doctor before combining Terbinafine tablets with the following:

Antidepressants
Beta-blockers
Cimetidine
Cyclosporine
Rifampin

Terbinafine may enhance the effects of caffeine.

TERBINAFINE DOSES



TABLETS
The recommended dose is a single 250 mg tablet daily for 6-12 weeks.

CREAM
Apply a small amount to the affected areas twice daily for up to 4 weeks and no less than 7 days.

SOLUTION
Apply to the affected areas twice daily for 1 week.
