Ginger


Generally regarded as an ingredient for cooking, Ginger has also been used as a healing herb. Ginger is one of the few herbs considered by the FDA as safe. In India and throughout Asia Ginger has been in use for centuries for treating cold symptoms like sore throat (Ginger Tea) as well for nausea and morning sickness. In the rural United States Ginger drink (Ginger ale) is still a popular home remedy for digestive problems and for nausea.


HEALING POWER


Cold  

Ginger Tea has long been used in India and China to treat sore throat and other problems associated with common cold. Simply add fresh raw Ginger in the Teapot, steep until it is boiling add Tea and stir for few minutes. Same could be done if the Tea is made in a microwave. It is primarily used in clearing the throat and the sinus congestion. 


Morning sickness
In China, it has been used to treat morning sickness of pregnancy.



Digestive problems
Ginger helps prevent indigestion and abdominal pain by soothing the muscles of the intestines.



CULINARY USES


Since Ginger stimulates the production of saliva, it is the main ingredient in many appetizer dishes.

In India, it has been used to dispel strong odor of meat especially in kabobs.



CAUTION



If taken in large quantity, Ginger may cause heartburn in some people.
